These are the most popular times for gorilla and chimpanzee trekking as trails are drier. Rwanda's "Land of a Thousand Hills" is beautiful year-round — even in the wet season, gorilla trekking continues and prices are often lower with fewer visitors.
How much does a gorilla trekking permit cost in Rwanda?
Gorilla trekking permits in Rwanda cost $1,500 per person — reflecting Rwanda's premium, low-impact tourism model. Permits are issued by the Rwanda Development Board and must be booked well in advance. Only 80 permits are issued per day across all gorilla groups.
