Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a visa to visit Uganda?

Most nationalities require a visa to enter Uganda. You can apply in advance through Uganda's e-visa portal or obtain one on arrival at Entebbe International Airport. Citizens of East African Community member states (Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan) generally enter without a visa. We recommend checking current requirements with your nearest Ugandan embassy well in advance of travel.

What is the best time to visit Uganda?

Uganda's two dry seasons — June to September and December to February — offer the most comfortable conditions for wildlife viewing, gorilla trekking, and road travel. That said, Uganda can be visited year-round. The wet seasons bring lush green landscapes, fewer crowds, and lower prices, though some trails can become muddy. Gorilla trekking is possible any time of year.

How much does a gorilla trekking permit cost?

Gorilla trekking permits in Uganda cost $800 per person. Permits are strictly limited — only 8 people are allowed to visit each gorilla family per day — so advance booking is essential, particularly during peak season. We handle permit booking as part of our tour packages. Contact us to check availability and secure your place.

Is Uganda safe for tourists?

Uganda is generally safe for tourists, particularly in national parks, game reserves, and major tourist areas. Kampala, like any capital city, requires standard precautions against petty theft. Our tours are guided by experienced professionals, and all national park activities are supervised by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. We recommend comprehensive travel insurance and registration with your home country's travel advisory service before departure.

What vaccinations do I need before travelling to Uganda?

A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry into Uganda if you are arriving from or transiting through a Yellow Fever endemic country. Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Tetanus vaccinations are strongly recommended. Malaria prophylaxis is advised for all travellers. Consult a travel health clinic or your GP at least 6–8 weeks before departure for personalised medical advice.
